Need a place to cool down in the summer heat?
Slovenia has a lot of clean water and beautiful rivers. Here we’ve listed nearby locations where you can park and go for a swim or at least cool down next to water.
Poljanska Sora

Poljanska Sora can get pretty warm, and has a lot of water. This location has a lot of space for swimming or laying in the sun on the beach. There is also a coffee shop nearby, Tavčarjev dvorec. Every so often it gets contaminated by runaway from nearby farms, so checking online or with your host is advisable.
Mala voda

Mala voda is a smaller stream, but a dam at the marked location accumulates enough water to make it possible to swim. It is cold, but not as cold as Velika Božna. You can also grab a drink in the small bar that’s run by the local tourist association.
Velika Božna

Small spot next to the Velika Božna river that is usually empty. There is a table with benches on one side of the river and some empty space on the other side. Sadly the natural basin isn’t deep enough to swim anymore, since the flood in August 2023. Still, it is a nice place to cool down and relax.
